support tacoma parks foundation Through your ira or retirement plan
How it Works
If you’re 70½ or older, you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), which is a direct transfer of up to $100,000 per year from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to Tacoma Parks Foundation. The transfer counts toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). It is not treated as taxable income when given directly from your IRA. QCDs must come from an IRA, not a 401(k), 403(b), or similar plan. The check must be made payable to Tacoma Parks Foundation.
This is not tax or legal advice. Please consult your financial advisor for guidance or for instructions on transferring funds from other retirement accounts into an IRA.
An IRA gift or beneficiary designation is one of the simplest and most tax-efficient ways to support the parks and programs you love. Whether you give now or plan a future gift, your generosity helps keep Tacoma’s parks vibrant for generations to come.
Why it Matters
A QCD lets you support parks, programs, and public spaces across Tacoma while potentially lowering your taxable income. Your gift keeps kids playing, families connecting, and our community healthy and green.
Name Tacoma Parks Foundation as a Beneficiary
You can also make a lasting impact by naming Tacoma Parks Foundation as a beneficiary for all or part of your IRA or other retirement plan.
Because we are a tax-exempt organization, your gift will avoid the ordinary income tax that non-charitable heirs would owe, allowing your legacy to stretch even further.
To update your beneficiary designation, contact your plan administrator and provide the following:
Legal Name: Greater Metro Parks Foundation
Tax ID: 91-1482669
Mailing Address: 4702 S. 19th St., Tacoma, WA 98405
If you’ve already included Tacoma Parks Foundation in your retirement plans, please tell us. We’d love the opportunity to thank you and ensure your intentions are honored.
